Stop the Monopoly – Oakland FCC Hearing on Media Ownership

Friday October 27, 2006 – 5:00 pm
On Friday, October 27th, YMC, Media Alliance and the NAACP will host a crucial Bay Area hearing on media consolidation. Two FCC commissioners will be at the downtown Oakland Marriott to hear public comments. The FCC will consider these comments as they debate new ownership rules that would allow big media corporations to own even MORE of what we read, watch and listen to.

This is a critical opportunity to raise our voices against the corporate media crisis. More than 900 people turned out to the hearing in L.A. Now it’s time to turn out in the Bay.

WHAT: FCC Hearing on Media Ownership
WHEN: Friday October 27, starting at 5 pm
WHERE: Oakland Marriott City Center, 1001 Broadway at 10th St (BART Oakland 12th St, map)
Sponsored by the NAACP, Media Alliance, the Youth Media Council, and Free Press
