“Pagbabalik searches beneath the veneer of identity to expose the hidden pains and passions of a past embedded not only in name and family, but the skin, the terrain. It follows a Filipina daughter’s return to the land of her heritage and to the ghosts that inhabit her legacy.” – Elmaz Abinader, award-winning author and playwright, “Country of Origin”

The Pagbabalik cast & crew cordially invites you to “Pagbabalik” (Return), the multidisciplinary theatre production that wowed audiences at La Peña Cultural Center last October and has been featured at APAture 2006, CounterPULSE’s Stream Fest, Laney College Theatre and more! See it MAY 24-26 (Work-In-Progress with Q&A) at Bindlestiff Studio and JUNE 14-16 (Full Production) at La Peña Cultural Center.

The production, which fuses dance, live music and spoken word has been called “exquisite” and of “vital importance” by audience members. Written/produced by Aimee Suzara, the work is directed by Alex Torres with Directorial Support from Ellen Sebastian Chang (Theatre Bay Area). The work has been awarded the Zellerbach Community Arts Grant in 2006 and 2007 and features a stellar cast and crew including Jose Saenz, Lisa Juachon, Ron Quesada, Rose Almario, Frances Sedayao, Aimee Espiritu, Jen Soriano, and Juan Calaf.
