A History of the Body (2013):
A History of the Body is a multidisciplinary play about colonization and the body, fusing dance, theater, poetry and visual art. The work examines the powerful effects of culture, history and media on our attitudes towards skin color, facial features and female beauty. After several developmental stages, it was commissioned as a Work-in-Progress by the East Bay Community Foundation at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center as part of the United States of Asian America Festival. Engaging with audiences along the way, Suzara and her collaborative team have offered workshops, talks and presentations.
The Real Sappho:
Commission for multi-year writing, development process and production of play The Real Sappho to be premiered in 2022 by Cutting Ball Theater (2020-2022)
